Surgical Dermatology

Many times things grow on your skin that need to be removed or you simply do not want. These can be unwanted moles, cysts, skin tags, lipomas, keloids, age spots, or skin cancers. At Dermatology Arts, our surgeons are experienced in a variety of removal methods including regular excisions, cryosurgery, and electrodessication and curretage.

  • Basal Cell Carcinomas, Squamous Cell Carcinomas, and Melanomas are three of the most common skin cancers. Our surgeons are adept at treating all three of these and many less common skin cancers including Merkel Cell Carcinomas and Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans. We use the highest quality plastic surgery sutures to give you the best cosmetic effect after healing.

  • A little pimple can become a large cyst or boil. If you have a cyst or boil that is bothering you, our dermatologic surgeons can help you remove it with a quick and simple procedure. If a cyst is acutely inflamed, we will help to calm the area down before removing it.

  • If you have a mole that is itchy or irritating or just a mole that you do not like, our dermatological surgeons can remove them for you. Insurance typically covers the removal of moles that are irritated or atypical. And we can also remove moles cosmetically for a fixed cosmetic fee.

We send all moles that we remove to pathology for testing. We do not use lasers for mole removal.

  • Lipomas are fatty lumps that grow under the skin. They are harmless but can be occasionally painful and bothersome. At Dermatology Arts, our surgeons can help you surgically remove these irritating lumps.

  • Skin tags are skin growths that stick out from the skin, and they are commonly found on eyelids, around the neck, and in the underarm area. They are harmless, but can be uncomfortable and unsightly. At Dermatology Arts we can easily remove them. If they are itchy or irritated, insurance will occasionally cover the removal fees, but we can also remove them cosmetically for a small fee.

  • Little brown spots on the skin or raised brown growths are sometimes called age or liver spots. We can easily remove these with cryotherapy or electrodessication. If they are uncomfortable, insurance can cover the removal cost, but we can also remove them cosmetically for a small fee.
