Seborrheic Keratosis

A seborrheic keratosis is a very common and benign (non cancerous) skin growth that occurs most commonly in older adults over the age of 50 years.

Seborrheic keratoses are brown, black, or light tan in color and occur most commonly on the face, chest, shoulders, back, and legs. They are typically rough/scaly and elevated in appearance. A seborrheic keratosis usually appears as a brown, black or light tan growth on the face, chest, shoulders or back. Seborrheic keratoses are not skin cancers, but they can look like skin cancer, so it is a good idea to have any new growth that is different than your other spots examined by one of our Bellevue dermatologists here at Dermatology Arts.

Seborrheic keratoses are normally painless and require no treatment. In our office we can discuss removal if they are becoming irritated by clothing or are bothersome for cosmetic reasons.
