Energetic. Enthusiastic. Even earnest. With deep love for humanity, an eye for detail, and many dad (bad) jokes.

Dr Samir Master went to Medical School and got his MBA at Northwestern University. He did his residency training at University of Washington, University of Michigan, and Georgetown University.

He has a broad range of interests and came to dermatology through a non-linear path. You’ll always find something interesting to chat about with Dr Samir Master. Pick your preferred language.

Aditi Chai

Helping his wife of twenty-four years (wow!) launch her own authentic masala tea company, Aditi Chai! Aditi Chai and other products including Turmeric Chai and Aditi Ghee is hyperlocal, made in exceptionally small craft batches. It is available locally at Columbia City Bakery, Portage Bay Cafe, and for delivery through Northwest Bakery Box!

Design

Dr. Master may be a mis-placed architect or designer. You’ll see a calm and welcoming environment when you walk into our office. He’s our web master, and even designed our logo integrating the D and A from Dermatology Arts into a single expression ten years ago. His interests are strongly rooted in mid-century principles: form should follow function, express simple materials simply.

Exercise

Crossfit for many years, his body is now getting old! Transitioned to cycling on the recommendations of many friends—you may see him riding a half-century on weekends (or week days when playing hooky!) on his Specialized Roubaix. Often commutes to work by bike for a 30 mile round trip ride.

Lakeside School

Spent the 2018-2019 as the 6th Grade Events Representative for the Parent and Guardians Association. Over a dozen events hosted, with some including up to 60 kids and their parents and guardians. Fun stuff included ice cream socials, picnics, parent coffees, happy hours, jazz concerts, walks around Greenlake and more!

LVMH

Worked directly for the Chairman of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton ($52 billion 2018 Revenues), Bernard Arnault's investment team, Groupe Arnault, where he represented Arnault’s approximately 10% stake in Netflix.

Netflix

Backed Reed Hastings and the Netflix Team while serving on the Netflix ($16 billion 2018 Revenues) Board of Directors www.netflix.com (NASDAQ: NFLX) when the company was only worth $200 million. Helped founders to avoid dilution during dot-com downturn.

Novartis Pharmaceuticals

Lived in Basel, Switzerland, where he served as Global Vice-President of Business Development for Novartis Pharmaceuticals (September 2019 trailing 12 month revenue of $55 billion with 16% year of year revenue growth) responsible for in-licensing, out-licensing and Mergers and Acquisitions to $5bn in transaction size.
