Swimming Federation Reverses Ban on the Soul Cap
Black swimmers have long struggled with swim caps that are not designed for Black hair. In 2017, the Soul Cap was developed to accommodate thicker and curlier Black hair, but the Soul Cap was rejected by the swimming federation. This caused an uproar as it posed an unnecessary barrier for Black athletes to join a sport that is already heavily dominated by white athletes. However, the Swimming Federation has finally reversed the ban on the Soul Cap.
