Dr. Carlos joined Dermatology Arts after practicing dermatology and dermatopathology for three years at the University of California San Diego. She attended Assumption School (now Assumption-St. Bridget’s) in Seattle’s Ravenna/Bryant neighborhood. Her family, originally from Pittsburgh, took her back to the East Coast for high school where she remained to complete her advanced training. After several years back East, her family decided to return to the Pacific Northwest and Dr. Carlos has been making her way back to the Seattle area since then.

Dr. Carlos is passionate about patient-centered care and next generation physician training. She served as Chief Resident at the University of Pennsylvania & as residency program co-director at UCSD, and has received local and national teaching awards. In addition to working at Dermatology Arts, she holds an appointment with the University of Washington Division of Dermatology through which she staffs the Hall Health clinic one half-day weekly. She enjoys caring for patients of all ages and with any type of skin issue. She is particularly interested in infectious disease and tropical dermatology.

In her non-dermatology time, Dr. Carlos enjoys running, world travel, spending time with her family and her dog. She and her sisters are determined to experience each of the fifty-eight US national parks together.  Dr. Carlos and her sisters visited an additional nine National Parks in 2016 bringing their total to thirty-four!

Medical Assistant

We are looking for a professional, highly motivated, and experience-driven employee to join our team of medical assistants in our Bellevue, WA office.

As a Medical Assistant, you will learn to conduct patient intake interviews, document medical histories, assist with procedures, schedule appointments, receive referrals, prepare prescriptions, and more. You will work alongside our providers and learn medical techniques and terminology, and best charting and patient education practices through shared patient care responsibility. 

This position is best suited for college graduates who can commit to two or more years of
employment and have an interest in advancing their careers further. Our Medical Assistants have completed nursing programs or are currently enrolled in Medical School and Physician Assistant programs.  Prior experience as a medical assistant is not a requirement to apply. You will have the opportunity to earn your Medical Assistant registration through your training.

Operations Manager

We are seeking an operations manager to work between our Bellevue and Yakima office locations. As the practice expands to include larger offices and new office sites, we seek a candidate with the confidence and initiative to ensure the practice continues to thrive and offer the highest excellence in service. We are looking for a well-rounded team player with great attention to detail, and a self-starter with strong work ethic. The candidate must possess impeccable customer service skills and feel confident providing direct administrative support to physicians in a fast paced environment; working effectively while managing multiple project deadlines. Desired candidates should hold a graduate degree and demonstrate prior achievement in a high growth environment.

The role of operations manager includes office site management at all locations, and travel within Washington is to be expected. Other responsibilities include staff training and support, bookkeeping, payroll, supply and inventory management, special event coordination, and marketing. Compensation will be determined by prior experience & ability, and will scale with personal performance.


Job Description

Patient Care Support:

  • Oversee and support day-to-day office activities delivering the Dermatology Arts patient experience, identifying and implementing operational efficiencies, and supporting employee concerns and interests.
  • Model company values and embody the “does whatever it takes” approach.
  • Support physician and other provider needs; proactively focus providers on our patients.
  • Facilitate and assure effective communication among patients, doctors, and employees.
  • Constantly assess patient flow, wait times, and schedules. Act to resolve delays and maximize patient comfort.
  • Enhance patient-employee relations, focus customer service efforts, address financial and other patient concerns without delay.

Staff Support:

  • Direct and coach employees to provide top quality patient care, including proper advance preparation of patient care areas, medical records.
  • Engage in regular performance management activities of staff to include selection, coaching, cross-training, evaluating performance, etc.  
  • Understand all staff processes and protocols, troubleshooting when necessary.
  • Ensure that all new hire paperwork is completed and forwarded to corporate office.  Review clerical and personnel records to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness. 
  • Create and maintain all staff schedules (physicians, medical staff, administrative). Create and maintain vacation and leave schedules for office employees. Provide coverage for staff members (as applicable).


  • Develop relationships with referring physician offices to strengthen Dermatology Arts’ presence in the community.  
  • Assure that the office’s physical facilities are properly maintained and in excellent condition at all times.  Build working relationship with Property Management.
  • Oversee selection and build out of office space; negotiate leases and other agreements.
  • Utilize innovative marketing strategies to connect with new patients.
  • Manage the practice website and Dermatology Arts’ online profile.


  • Payroll function - review employee timecards for accuracy before submission for processing.
  • Perform administrative tasks required by the business, e.g. bank deposits, invoices, reports, etc. 
  • Coordinate with third party billing team to ensure smooth and accurate information flow.
  • Assist and oversee the accurate and timely collection of copays, coinsurance, deductibles and patient balances.


  • Audit office practices, documentation, and processes to assure adherence to company policies and procedures, including but not limited to:  auditing patient charts, monitoring interactions with patients, quality control of various accounting reports, etc. 
  • Act with integrity to maintain patient confidentiality. 
  • Ensure clinic and staff is in-line with all medical regulations that are required of business model, i.e. OSHA, HIPAA, etc.


Required Skills


This position directly supervises employees including front desk, medical assistants, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Must be proficient with MS Office/MacOS/iOS and have the ability to learn a variety of computer operating systems. Experience and knowledge of practice management and electronic health record software is preferred.  We utilize AdvancedMD and Modernizing Medicine's EMA.

Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals, and technical journals.  Write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of customers or employees of the organization. Handle sensitive and confidential matters in an appropriate way.

Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

Solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
